Molly Cool's

I had a great time last night with my new friends at Molly Cool's. Who new you could get half of Milwaukee to show up at your restaurant by offering free food and drinks, it was a mad house. They have a great location right on the milwaukee river with a view of the city. I hope to be back socially soon.

Milwaukee Cityscape

Milwaukee Cityscape Time-lapse from Carl Stevens on Vimeo.

I am into time-lapse photography right now. Normally the camera is used to freeze a single moment in time. I have become fascinated by the ways the same tool can be used to show the passage of time. Either by time-lapse or long exposure like my recent series of landscapes down by the lakefront.

For fun?

What does a photographer do for fun? Take pictures with friends. Sunday I got together with fellow members from "the Collection" to take some photos. I had a great time. The models Sara and Nick must have thought we were all crazy. There were about a bakers dozen of us, all pointing our lenses at them. It must have been intimidating but they did great.

Kristen & Ron

The wedding season is underway! I spent this past weekend with Kristen & Ron. A little rain could not stop them from having a good time. Last year the Artists Eyes family had a friendly ring shot competition. I like this one, there sitting on a black plate with some dry ice. I just happened to have some with me. Not really, there was some sort of science fair going on when we arrived at the botanical gardens. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Recording

This weekend I had the privilege of being in the studio with some of Milwaukee's most talented musicians as they laid tracks for Ethan Keller's upcoming album. I got to meet many of the artists I have seen Ethan play with live. Times like these remind me how great this "job" is.

Painting

1...2...3....PAINT from Carl Stevens on Vimeo.

This is the painting I am working on for Andrea and Jerrod. In a few days after the paint is dry I will go over it with a gel medium and send it off. I hope they like it.

The Hat Trick of Love.

OK so maybe a "hat trick" is not the best hockey term but it's the only one I know. This was a fun one! Ryan proposed to Abby at an Admirals game so what better place for their engagement photos. The team was happy to help out some season ticket holders and even let us out on the ice before the game. I love the shot of Abby and Ryan laying on the ice.

I spent an entire third trying to get them on the kiss cam with no luck. Who do you have to marry to get on that thing. Abby and Ryan were clearly the best looking couple in the stadium. I do want to thank Charile Larson for all his help in making this happen. GO ADMIRALS!!!!!!

Family

I could tell Sara is close to her aunts. Her aunts were there for her all day. I love the shot of one of Sara's aunts looking on as she gets her makeup on.

Blog Break!

This is the first spread in Sara & Jon's wedding book. This is going to be a fun book to design. I had a great time making the images, now I get to re-live the day as I put the album together. All the images should be online in 24 hours.

Trouble Free

I was a little worried something would go wrong yesterday. I have not had the best track record in Madison, between buses dying and DJ's going to the hospital who can blame me. Sara and John's wedding was nothing short of perfect. There is a first for everything and yesterday was the first time I went to Victoria Secret with eight women. I would be lying if I said I didn't feel like the man. Then I felt the camera in my hand and realized I looked like a pervert. We went downtown for pictures and made a quick stop at a Madison favorite, Ellas Deli. I love the shot of our hero and heroine in front of the blue lines.

I have to shout out to all my friends; Melissa, Nicole, Jenny, and of course Megan and Jeb. Leave me a comment and I'll keep you posted so you know when you can add Sara and John's wedding to your favorites.

Food is Love.

I got excited about doing Katie & TJ's engagement session when Katie told me they like to cook together. We walked a few blocks to the public market downtown to pick up a few things, then I got to experience their cooking first hand. I had a great time getting to know the two of them.

When I look back on my years as a cook the most important thing I learned is that food is love. Vegitables don't chop them self's, chicken dosen't mix it's own marinade, and spices don't through them self's in the pan. All that effort and energy and attention to detail is love. I hope these two lovers continue to cook together and put their love in the pan and on the plate.
